Evja is bringing innovation to the agricultural sector by combining cutting-edge technology with agronomic expertise to deliver data-driven, predictive solutions powered by artificial intelligence. Its goal is to help farmers and businesses improve crop yields, optimize resources, and minimize environmental impact.

Through a network of IoT sensors and predictive agronomic models, Evja offers real-time monitoring and analysis tools that enable smarter decisions and more efficient management.

With over 600 devices installed in 10 countries across 4 continents, Evja is at the forefront of sustainable, precision agriculture, playing a key role in ensuring food security and enhancing production quality.

For this specific project, EVJA relies on the scientific expertise of CREA – the Research Centre for Horticulture and Floriculture based in Pontecagnano. CREA is Italy's foremost research institution dedicated to agri-food supply chains. It operates as a public law entity and is supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forests (Masaf). Its scientific activities span agricultural crops, livestock, fisheries, forestry, agro-industry, food science, and socio-economics.

CREA will provide comprehensive scientific expertise to develop predictive models for powdery mildew and downy mildew in tomato cultivation. These services include:

  • Conducting thorough literature reviews on how microclimate factors influence the development of these diseases in tomatoes, helping to optimize research strategies.

  • Offering expert guidance to optimize greenhouse trial conditions at partner farms, ensuring scientifically sound experimental protocols.

  • Performing regular field assessments to evaluate plant health, document disease emergence patterns, track the spatial and temporal spread of infections, and collect plant samples for laboratory analysis when necessary.

  • Providing scientific analysis of research findings gathered from partner agricultural operations.

Founded in 1993 by Saverio De Maio, Azienda Agricola De Maio has deep roots in Italian agricultural tradition, with experience dating back to the late 1970s. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong connection to the local area, the company has grown into a leading producer of high-quality fruit.

Today, under the guidance of Vincenzo De Maio, who inherited his father's passion and expertise, the company seamlessly blends innovation and technology with its rich family heritage. Committed to sustainability, Azienda Agricola De Maio uses renewable energy sources, such as photovoltaic systems, and practices integrated and organic farming, preserving the integrity of the Forino region, nestled in the Avellino Apennines.

Specializing in the cultivation and marketing of hazelnuts, walnuts, chestnuts, and cherries, the company is renowned for the exceptional quality and yield of its products. This dedication to excellence earned Azienda Agricola De Maio the Industria Felix Award in 2018, placing it among the top companies in Campania. This prestigious recognition highlights the company’s competitive strength and exceptional financial management, further cementing its reputation as a leader in the agricultural sector.
